I’m a creative developer based in Silicon Valley currently working at Google HQ as a UX Engineer.

When I was young I had a box of color pencils. No one asked me to arrange them in a certain order but I was obsessed and happy to have them in my own order. Now, I like to have order in my code too.

The fact that my father is a talented pattern-maker who creates complex costumes for the musical and movie industry gives me this special feeling that maybe I am fascinated with the same kind of work – but in a different industry.

나의 어린 시절에는 나만의 순서로 정렬된 12색 색연필이 있었다. 누군가 나에게 그렇게 묻거나 정해주지 않았지만 나는 그 순서가 좋았고 말하자면 집착했다. 지금의 내가 함수나 변수의 정렬 순서 혹은 스타일 시트의 정렬 방식에 집착하는 것과 같이.

내 아버지가 재능있는 패턴사라는 것(특별히 복잡한 옷들, 예를 들면 옷 표면 가득 색색의 전구들이 빼곡하던 한 퍼레이드용 의상 같은 것들)은 가끔 나에게 어떤 특별한 감정을 느끼게 한다. 그것이 다만 다른 분야라는 것일 뿐, 어쩌면 나는 내 아버지와 굉장히 비슷한 일에 빠져있다.
